Commonly asked questions:

Tui Na massage Q & A

TO BOOK A MASSAGE APPOINTMENT:

What do I need to know before treatment begins?

First, just relax and enjoy the treatment. While you may feel discomfort in problem areas in your body, most people feel both relaxed and energized after a treatment. The more you relax, feel at ease and enjoy the treatment – going with the therapy rather than over-analysing or mentally fighting against it – the more benefit you will accrue.

Do I have to remove my clothes to receive a treatment?

No. You will be covered by a sheet during the treatment, so it is best to wear loose-fitting but lightweight clothing (T-shirts, shirts without buttons, shorts, light sweats or yoga pants, etc). This will help your therapist provide more effective treatment.

Do you use oils or lotions?

Only for some specific application. Your Tuina practitioner will discuss these options with you if they deem it of benefit to you.

What if I feel pain or discomfort?

Just inform your Tuina practitioner of your discomfort and the treatment can be modified to suit your condition. Remember that pain is a messenger, telling us something important about our body. Most types of pain or discomfort that surface during massage can be broken down and dispersed during treatment. At any time, if you just don’t feel right the treatment can be stopped.

Is there anything else I should know before hand?

As a courtesy, please wear socks and avoid the use of perfumes, colognes  or body lotions with strong scents. Also be sure to have your client information and consent form filled out before you arrive for treatment.
